Stewardship Moment: “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s. - Matthew 22:21 Everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given each of us. All God is asking is that we give back a portion of what He gave us. This is the essence of Stewardship. God should be our first priority in everything. All else comes second, especially our money.

October is Respect Life Month: Join Catholics nationwide praying a special novena for the protection of human life from conception to natural death October 22-30. Get daily intentions, brief reflections, and more. Sign up at respectlife.org/celebrate

Next Weekend: The World Mission Sunday collection helps the Church spread the Gospel in missionary lands. These are places (1,130 of them to be exact) where the Church basically barely exists, or where she is so young, poor, or persecuted that she cannot support herself in terms of personnel and resources. What’s raised on World Mission Sunday is used to make possible the heroic work of missionary bishops, priests, religious sisters, and lay catechists who labor, sometimes under threat of death, to share our faith. It helps build churches, seminaries, convents, and catechetical centers. It provides for basic needs like transport, food, and shelter. It helps pass on the faith to children and to their parents.

•Please make your check payable to St. Elizabeth (memo line “World Mission Sunday”). The parish             deposits the checks and includes the donation in your individual giving record. We send a check to the       Diocese of Fargo remitting these funds and the Diocese of Fargo remits these funds to the national             office. Envelopes are in your box set.

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for October: Let us pray that mental health ministry be established throughout the Church, helping to overcome the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: "Help someone in distress and you lighten your own burden; the very joy of alleviating the sorrow of another is the lessening of one's own."
