Stewardship Moment: “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” - 1 Corinthians 12:7 St. Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s plan? How are you helping to build God’s kingdom here on earth? Remember that if you don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it. Live the life God has intended for you. Take time to discern your charisms (gifts from the Holy Spirit). Experience the supernatural Peace and Joy God desires for each of us.

Next week we will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection to support the Universal Church and the work of the Holy See, including the charitable works of Pope Francis. These works benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Please be generous. For more information, visit www.obolodisanpietro.va/en.html. Peter’s Pence envelopes are in your box set of envelopes. Please return them next weekend. As with all national/special collections, please make your check payable to St. Elizabeth (memo line “Peter’s Pence Collection”). The parish deposits the checks and includes the donation in your individual giving record. We send a check to the Diocese of Fargo remitting these funds and the Diocese of Fargo remits these funds to the national office.

Religious Education Bowling/Pizza Party: For all grades P-12 on Sun, Feb. 9th in Carrington from 2-4 pm (P-2nd must have a parent along to help them). Free Bowling! Free Pizza! Free Pop! Sign-up sheet is in the back of church. Chaperones are also needed.

Catholic Married Couples: Learn more about yourself, your spouse & your marriage on Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2025 in Crookston, MN. Visit www.sixstonejars.org for more info.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “Our happiest times are those in which we forget ourselves, usually in being kind to someone else. That tiny moment of self-abdication is an act of true humility: the man who loses himself finds himself and finds his happiness.”

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for January: Let us pray for migrants, refugees, and those affected by war, that their right to an education, which is necessary to build a better world, might always be respected.

This Sunday, we will again observe Respect Life Month, whereby we are reminded of the dignity of all human life. We sadly remember that infamous day, January 22nd, fifty-two years ago that condemned innocent unborn babies to death.

Stewardship Moment: “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming…he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit...’” - Luke 3:16 The Catholic Catechism states that “Jesus’ immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to die to themselves to do God’s will.” In other words, as baptized Catholics there is only one gift that we need to give to Jesus – the gift of ourselves. Surrender yourself to God, place your trust in Him and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you for the greater glory of God.

Dear brothers and sisters of St. Elizabeth’s,
I can’t thank you enough for your amazing generosity to the Diocesan Capital Campaign! I appreciate so much your willingness to join me in donating to this cause which greatly supports our diocese and our parish. I have some exciting news for you! The goal for St. Elizabeth was $34,513. As of Jan 9th, we have
$35,350 in pledges from 13 households. That means we have surpassed our goal at just over 102%! Remember, 30% of the money raised up to our goal comes directly back to our parish. Then 70% of donations beyond our goal comes directly back to us. So, at this point in the campaign, that means $10,940 is allocated to St. Elizabeth’s over the next 4 years, if all the pledges are fulfilled.
You are awesome my friends! You are truly emulating the campaign motto by Living our Faith, Building our Future. I pray that God will bless you and your loved ones abundantly through your generosity this new year! If you have not made your pledge yet, I encourage you to please do so soon and join your fellow parishioners in the sacrifice. Thank you so much and God bless you! ~ Fr. Leier

Stewardship Moment: “…They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” - Matthew 2:11 What gifts do you give to the Lord? Pope St. Gregory said that these three gifts represent what we should give God every day. Gold – we should reflect Christ’s wisdom in all our relationships. Frankincense – represents our daily prayer and adoration to God. Myrrh – is a symbol of our daily sacrifices that we unite with Jesus for the sake of others.

On Friday, Jan 10th, St. John’s Church in New Rockford is hosting a Made For Greatness Men’s Event. It begins at 5:45pm with a social. Supper is served at 6:00pm. Then at 7:00pm, Steve Splonskowski (from the Diocese) will give a keynote talk entitled “Why Does it Matter?” The evening concludes with a fun social and liars dice tournament. The following day, Jan 11th, St. John’s is then hosting a Men’s Parish Leadership Retreat. This is a smaller, all-day event from 8:00am–3:45pm. If the Lord is stirring in your heart a desire for a deeper mission and encounter with Christ, then please consider attending. Its purpose is to inspire, educate, and raise up our Christian men to be leaders for the mission of their parish. An inspiring agenda is planned, including keynote talks by Steve Splonskowski and Brad Gray from the Diocese.

Attendance is free, there is no cost to join either event. I will be participating in both events on Friday and Saturday. I encourage you to prayerfully consider attending. Ask yourself this—"what do I have to lose?” I guarantee you, any amount of time you dedicate to our Lord is NOT wasted time. He will bless you abundantly for it, because our God cannot be outdone in generosity! If you want to join me for this wonderful opportunity to learn, bond, and grow as courageous servant-leaders for Jesus Christ, please let me know. Call me, send me an email, or talk to me after Mass so I can gather an accurate count for the organizers. Thank you brothers, and God bless! ~ Fr. Leier

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for January: Let us pray for migrants, refugees, and those affected by war, that their right to an education, which is necessary to build a better world, might always be respected.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “The evil in the world must not make me doubt the existence of God. There could be no evil if there were no God. Before there can be a hole in a uniform, there must be a uniform; before there is death, there must be life; before there is error, there must be truth; before there is a crime, there must be liberty and law; before there is a war, there must be peace; before there is a devil, there must be a God, rebellion against whom made the devil.”
