Stewardship Moment: “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” Luke 12:34 Jesus encourages us to build up our treasure in heaven. The world encourages us to build up our treasure in real estate, investments, and material goods. How much time are you investing in building up a worldly treasure? How much time are you investing in building up a heavenly treasure? To invest more in the things of heaven, you must let go of some of the things of this world.

I will be on vacation from Mon., Aug. 4th through Tues., Aug. 12th. Weekday Masses, confession and adoration are cancelled during this time. Please pray that I have a safe journey and I will be remembering you in all of my Masses. Please welcome Fr. William Slattery, the chaplain for Shanley High School, who will be celebrating Mass this weekend while I am on vacation. Thank you! ~ Fr. Leier

FFF (FAMILY, FAITH, FORMATION) Registration will be Sun., Aug. 17th and 24th before and after Mass in the back of church. This registration is for preschool through high school. To enroll in the preschool program, your child must be four years old by Sept. 1, 2025. When you register your students, please pay for them as it makes the bookkeeping a lot easier. The cost for the FFF program per family is $45.00 for 1 student, $90.00 for 2 students, $135.00 for 3 students and $160.00 for 4 or more students. Students are in the same grade in FFF as they are in school.

There will be an Altar Society meeting on Sunday, August 24th at 9:45am in the St. Elizabeth Parish Center. Agenda will be the Fall Bazaar.

Assumption Of Mary Into Heaven is a Holy Day of Obligation. This feast has a double objective: (1) the happy departure of Mary from this life; (2) the assumption of her body into heaven. It is the principal feast of the Blessed Virgin. Mass at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 14th at Sykeston; Mass at 5:30 pm on Friday, August 15th at Carrington.

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for August: Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious, or ideological reasons.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “We shrink therefore from God, knowing that He wants to enrich our being, rather than our having-that He wishes to elevate our nature, not to submerge and lose it in trifles. He has called us to the superior vocation of being His children, of partaking of His nature, and of being related to Him as branches to a vine. Few of us completely want that elevation; it is our petty desire to have more, not to share the glory of being more. We want the poor shadows, not the light-the sparks, & not the sun-the arc, & not the circle.”
