Ash Wednesday Mass Schedule:
Kensal – 11:00am
Sykeston – 4:00pm
Carrington – 6:30pm

Stewardship Moment: “For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:20 The Pharisees lived according to the letter of the law, and they used this to elevate themselves above the other people. Jesus is clear – it’s the love that you have in your heart, for God and others, that will get you to heaven. Simply following church rules to the letter and not out of love, does not necessarily put you on the path to heaven. Attending Sunday Mass and then gossiping about a fellow parishioner in the parking lot is an example of being a modern-day Pharisee.

KC’s “Chimbote Family Fun Night”: Today, Sunday, Feb. 15th in the parish hall. Spaghetti/Alfredo Feed from 5-6:30 pm (free will offering); Silent Auction concludes at 6:30 pm followed by “Old Fashion” Bingo (1 card 1.00 or 3 cards 2.00). Proceeds to benefit Friends of Chimbote “Soup Kitchen” in Chimbote, Peru. Everyone Welcome.

FFF Students – You are invited to a Movie Day TODAY - movie day for all grades P-12 on Sunday, Feb. 15th at 2:00 pm. Showing “King of Kings” at the Carrington Movie Theatre. Pop and popcorn provided as well as the cost of showing the movie.

This weekend, we will watch a DVD by the Bishop on the God’s Gift Appeal. You will be receiving your God’s Gift Appeal letter and pledge card in the mail this week from Bishop Folda. Please prayerfully consider supporting the various missions of our Diocese. Please return your pledge card next weekend, Feb. 21-22, on God’s Gift Commitment Weekend. May God bless you for your generosity!

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: "God’s delays are mysterious; sorrow is sometimes prolonged for the same reason for which it is sent. God may abstain for the moment from healing, not because Love does not love, but because Love never stops loving, and a greater good is to come from the woe. Heaven’s clock is different from ours."

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for February: Let us pray that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care and support, never losing strength and hope.

FFF Schedule: Wednesday, February 18th. Because this is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, we are asking the students to go to their classrooms by 6:15 pm.

Stewardship Moment: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 The generosity of being a good steward of your gifts has a positive effect on people, and it is contagious! Good works encourages more good works. Generosity is a by-product of a grateful lifestyle. The more we recognize God’s gifts, the more we want to share them. Good stewards recognize that God is working through them, & they don’t put themselves above the people they have been called to help.

KC Valentine Banquet: Monday, Feb. 9th - Rosary at 5:30 pm, Social followed by Supper.
Join us to hear Andrea Salazar speak about her recent Rome and Papal experiences. Wives, widows of former members and guests are invited to attend. Supper cost is $12.00. RSVP to Angela Boeshans by Sunday, Feb. 8th for the supper.

KC’s “Sacred Heart of Jesus” Prayer Program: Tues, Feb. 10th during Adoration at 5:00 pm. The North Dakota Knights of Columbus currently features the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the traveling pilgrim icon, which will be in our parish from Feb. 9th-15th. Painted by Pompeo Batoni—to foster devotion and, often, to encourage the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in homes. Please join us for the prayer program on Tuesday or stop by during the week to view the painting and offer your prayers.

KC’s “Chimbote Family Fun Night”: Sun. Feb. 15th in the parish hall. Spaghetti/Alfredo Feed from 5-6:30 pm (free will offering); Silent Auction concludes at 6:30 pm followed by “Old Fashion” Bingo (1 card 1.00 or 3 cards 2.00). The God’s Gift Appeal Kick-off Weekend is this weekend. Next weekend, we will watch a DVD by the Bishop on the God’s Gift Appeal.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “If we revolve about what happens on the outside, then the latter determines our mood and attitudes. But if we make what is external revolve around us, we can determine the amount of their influence. Either what is outside makes our moods, or our moods determine
our outlook on what is outside us.”

Stewardship Moment: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3 The phrase “poor in spirit” can be confusing. Think of it in this sense – poor in spirt means depending on God’s providence and not depending on our own self-reliance. Being detached from earthy things (power, money, and comfort) and being attached to heavenly things (charity, sacrifice, and mercy). Denying ourselves from satisfying our desires and helping others obtain their basic needs.

BLESSING OF THROATS (St. Blaise-Feb. 3) will be held this weekend at all the Masses.

Thank you for your generous support in last week’s Peter’s Pence Collection! As a parish, we collected $270. It is not too late to give. Visit www.usccb.org/peters-pence .

Report Cards for FFF were mailed this past week. They will be mailed again at the end of the second semester. If you have any questions or comments, contact the teacher, Jessica Skadberg, DRE, or Fr. Leier.

Spaghetti/Alfredo Feed from 5-6:30 pm (free will offering); Silent Auction concludes at 6:30 pm followed by “Old Fashion” Bingo (1 card 1.00 or 3 cards 2.00). Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “Conscience, Christ, and the gift of faith make evil men uneasy in their sin. They feel that if they could drive Christ from the earth, they would be free from “moral inhibitions.” They forget that it is their own nature and conscience which makes them feel that way. Being unable to drive God from the heavens, they would drive his ambassadors from the earth. In a lesser sphere, that is why many men sneer at virtue-because it makes vice uncomfortable.”

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for February: Let us pray that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care and support, never losing strength and hope.

3RD Grade Eucharist Meeting for parents on Wednesday, February 4th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the church. Students attend class.
