Stewardship Moment: “Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared…” - Nehemiah 8:10 Ezra’s instructions to the people show us that God does not forbid us from enjoying the good things in life. He wants us to be happy! However, God expects us to be grateful for all that He has given us and to generously share our blessings with those who are in need. Now here’s the hard part – to share all we have without expecting anything in return.

Today, is the Peter’s Pence Collection, a worldwide collection that supports the work of the Universal Church, including the work of the Holy See and the charitable works of Pope Francis. Take this opportunity to join with Pope Francis to be a sign of mercy to our suffering brothers and sisters. Please be generous today. For more information, visit www.obolodisanpietro.va/en.html. Envelopes are in your box set of envelopes.

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for January: Let us pray for migrants, refugees, and those affected by war, that their right to an education, which is necessary to build a better world, might always be respected.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “The fact the enemies of God must face is that modern civilization has conquered the world, but in doing so has lost its soul. And in losing its soul it will lose the very world it gained…And as religion fades so will freedom, for only where the spirit of God is, is there liberty.”

Stewardship Moment: “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” - 1 Corinthians 12:7 St. Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s plan? How are you helping to build God’s kingdom here on earth? Remember that if you don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it. Live the life God has intended for you. Take time to discern your charisms (gifts from the Holy Spirit). Experience the supernatural Peace and Joy God desires for each of us.

Next week we will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection to support the Universal Church and the work of the Holy See, including the charitable works of Pope Francis. These works benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Please be generous. For more information, visit www.obolodisanpietro.va/en.html. Peter’s Pence envelopes are in your box set of envelopes. Please return them next weekend. As with all national/special collections, please make your check payable to St. Elizabeth (memo line “Peter’s Pence Collection”). The parish deposits the checks and includes the donation in your individual giving record. We send a check to the Diocese of Fargo remitting these funds and the Diocese of Fargo remits these funds to the national office.

Heavenly Wisdom by Venerable Fulton Sheen: “Our happiest times are those in which we forget ourselves, usually in being kind to someone else. That tiny moment of self-abdication is an act of true humility: the man who loses himself finds himself and finds his happiness.”

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for January: Let us pray for migrants, refugees, and those affected by war, that their right to an education, which is necessary to build a better world, might always be respected.

This Sunday, we will again observe Respect Life Month, whereby we are reminded of the dignity of all human life. We sadly remember that infamous day, January 22nd, fifty-two years ago that condemned innocent unborn babies to death.
